Canoe Stop as social node

Observation: The shelter beside the canoe stop for the elders and children of the community experiences a lot of traffic; however, it only seats 6 people. As this shelter is a major social node within the community, it presents a viable opportunity for the sharing of information. How can this be achieved?

Proposal: By extending the shelter and using seating which will accommodate more people, the space creates an opportunity for discussion or learning, reaching more people. In time, the shelter will become an information point where subjects such as the literacy of the community might be addressed through the use of symbols or pictograms that community members recognise.
